Tony’s Reaction (3.5/5) –
I don’t want to say that I didn’t like this issue. I guess it just didn’t start with as much strength as other issues I’ve read. This issue felt like it fell a little flat.
I mean, sure it had Deadpool and his classic language and humor, but it didn’t feel like it had a whole lot of authenticity or emotion. Maybe it’s something I have against the Skrulls. They weren’t my favorite part of the Captain Marvel movie either. Or maybe I just didn’t feel enough of a plot. Deadpool imagining that young Skrull children wanted his autograph wasn’t enough to get me to feel this issue had a lot of substance.
But the end of the issue certainly had quite a twist when Deadpool finally reveals his intent to work with the Skrulls and not kill them.

Synopsis –
ONE OF US PART 1 Deadpool is back and crazier than ever! And this time, he’s joined…the Skrull Invasion of Earth?!

Highlight –
The best part of this issue was, hands down, the moment that Deadpool appeared wearing a sports mascot costume and started blasting the Skrulls. Not only is Deadpool hilarious, but he’s also very creative.

Fun fact –
This issue was writer Daniel Way’s first issue of his run in the series.
P.S.
This was my first CGC comic book. Generally these books are worth quite a bit more after they’ve been graded. I didn’t know a whole lot about grading so I figured I’d just dip my feet in with a 9.4 and I’ve been pleasantly impressed.
My guess why it’s a 9.4 is that this book has a small bend in the spine up above the top stable by the “D” in “DEADPOOL”. Despite it not being my favorite issue, it marks the beginning of a crucial volume of DP comics and I’m still learning all sorts of new things so I’m glad I bought it.
If you’re new to comics too and want to learn more about comic book grading, I’ll be posting an article about that next.
